I'm Yunetta Spring Smith
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor, EMDR Certified Therapist, EMDRIA Approved Consultant, EMDRIA Advanced & Basic Trainer, Therapreneur, Radio Therapist Expert, International Speaker, and Published Author.
I created Ground Breakers Coaching and Consulting to support EMDR Therapists who desire to be certified and clients who desire to find clinicians that understand their culture and unique life circumstances. This is a community where you can feel seen. We value the importance of race, culture, and identity. Ground Breakers strives to break stigmas, disrupt dysfunctional cycles, and cultivate change through the power of EMDR.
Why Ground Breakers?
The need for this community erupted during the pandemic. Racial trauma and civil unrest made it impossible to ignore years of suppressed trauma. The need for therapy in marginalized communities became more evident. The lack of cultural awareness amongst mental health professionals could no longer be ignored.
I felt a strong call to be the change I wanted to see withing the EMDR community.
The magnitude of racial trauma experienced in communities of color is unprecedented, yet black and brown therapists only make up 4% of mental health providers. Because research supports the effectiveness of EMDR Ground Breakers strives to prepare a solid foundation for ALL EMDR therapists who are committed to change.
If therapists aren’t willing to support BIPOC communities with cultural humility, then they contribute to collective trauma. Those who have been consistently marginalized and disenfranchised may continue to suffer in silence. When EMDR therapist are open to address these systemic issues, we can begin the process of collective healing.
Who do we serve?

- All EMDR therapists who desire to network and find community.
